Ohio State displays Jesus!
Last week, many Ohio State Buckeyes players arrived for fall football camp wearing shirts with prominent Christian messages. Their photos are now circulating online.
At least 21 players for the legendary program arrived at the team hotel wearing shirts saying, “Follow Jesus,” “Jesus Won,” “Jesus Saves,” “God Got Me,” and “Just Here To Give God Glory.”
While some commenters objected to images being posted on pages such as the official Ohio State Football page, most reactions were positive.
One said, “THE JESUS SHIRTS ARE EVERYTHING!! I LOVE OHIO STATE,” while another said, “I love how my favorite team is honoring the King.”
Even fans of arch-rival University of Michigan couldn’t help but celebrate the comments, which bridged one of the most bitter rivalries in college sports.
Michigan fan here, after reading this post I have gained so much respect for this program,” said one, while another admitted, “Seeing these guys wearing Jesus Won shirts, it’s hard to root against them.”
Another fan said, “Michigan fans will always support Jesus. God is bigger than rivalries.”
On Instagram, Buckeye running back TreVeyon Henderson shared pictures of the team arriving in Jesus Won apparel, which also creates gear for Asbury University.
“Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood to pay the price for our sins so our sins could be forgiven and we could be made right with God, and three days later he rose again, overcoming the power of sin that leads to eternal death, so we are able to enter Heaven and receive eternal life!”
“Jesus Saved My Life | Servant of Jesus Christ,” Henderson’s bio says.
He recently shared a collaborative post with a handful of his Buckeye teammates announcing a Fall Kickoff Event for the community, an “evening filled with testimonies, music, baptisms, food, and fun.” OSU football team believers and several campus ministries will collaborate on the event, on Aug. 25.
Kamryn Babb explained the meaning behind the event on Instagram:
“Jesus has moved in the hearts of many young men over the years on the Ohio State football team. There are so many people just like us who have been hurt and have been lost in the world. Whether you believe in Jesus or don’t. We want to invite EVERYONE to come gather to experience the love of Christ together.”
The post was also contributed by tight end Gee Scott Jr., who recently baptized seven Buckeye teammates after preaching at a local church in Ohio. Scott regularly shares the gospel with his teammates and boldly stands for Jesus.
On Aug. 31, Ohio State kicks off the season as the nation’s No. 2 program.
