ECHL’s Tahoe Knight Monsters unveil inaugural uniforms

Almost three months before their first faceoff, Nevada’s newest hockey team now has uniforms to match their name and logo.

The Tahoe Knight Monsters unveiled the jerseys they will wear in their inaugural season, which will begin in October at the Tahoe Blue Events Center in Stateline, Nevada.

In addition to teal stripes bordered in black and gold at the elbows, the lower half of the sleeves are black. The Knight Monsters’ primary logo appears on the chest, and black and gold stripes run around the waist. Each shoulder is adorned with a monster’s eye shaped like Lake Tahoe, and is black with gold trim.

In the ECHL, teams wear white jerseys at home and dark jerseys on the road until the All-Star Game break in January, when they switch to dark at home and white on the road. In the playoffs, they return to white at home and dark on the road.

The team’s online store only refers to the black and gold jerseys as “black” and “gold”, so it’s unclear which is the regular dark jersey and which is the alternate.

A monster’s head logo appears on the chest of the gold jersey. A black and white stripe runs around the waist and the shoulder yokes are black with white trim. A shield logo sits on the shoulders with a beveled interlocking gold “KM” monogram under mountains and a star, with teal flourishes on the sides and bottom. There is a shield logo on the chest with a monster’s eye in a lake below mountains. A narrow teal stripe runs around the waist, and monster head logos are on the shoulders.

In addition, the Knight Monsters announced on Tuesday that they had entered into an affiliation agreement with the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL and the Vegas Golden Knights of the NHL.

Knight Monsters co-owner David Hodges said in a press release that “Hockey in Nevada has continued to grow over the past seven-plus years, and we’re excited to get started in late October.”

AHL and ECHL affiliates of the Golden Knights are now located in the same jurisdiction as their parent club with the addition of Tahoe. Montréal Canadiens (AHL: Laval Rocket [Laval, Québec]; ECHL: Trois-Rivières Lions [Trois-Rivières, Québec]) and Philadelphia Flyers (AHL: Lehigh Valley Phantoms [Allentown, Pennsylvania]; ECHL: Reading Royals [Reading, Pennsylvania]) are the others.

Tim Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback, is part of the team’s ownership group.

On Thursday, October 24, the Knight Monsters will play their first ECHL game at home against the Jacksonville Icemen.
