Despite her own challenge to fans, Taylor Swift posted a YouTube video Friday showing her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, kissing her while she cooked, and sewing while wearing a University of Kansas sweatshirt. Fans of Swift roared at the rare glimpse into their home life. But they also wanted to know: Where can I buy that sweatshirt? “Taylor Swift in a KU sweatshirt is my Roman Empire,” wrote one Swiftie on X.
Swift is shown with a pickleball racket in one of the glimpses of life with Kelce. It has a logo of the Super Bowl champion Chiefs. That’s the team Kelce has played for since entering the NFL in 2013. The Chiefs Kingdom has embraced Swift since she attended her first game at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 24. As a result, the world knew Swift and Kelce were dating.
Swift has invited her fans to share glimpses of their lives, corresponding with the theme of 14 – a nod to the number of days in a “Fortnight,” the title track of her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” In an announcement on X, she has urged their participation in the For a Fortnight Challenge, showcasing 14 snippets from different moments in their lives exclusively on @YouTube Shorts. The accompanying video features Swift making cinnamon rolls, receiving a tender kiss from Kelce while cooking at the stove, working in the recording studio, enjoying a day on a yacht, working out at the gym focusing on her glutes, and sporting intricate makeup.
Swift has always had a love for cooking. During the 2023 season, she delighted the Chiefs offensive linemen with homemade Pop-Tarts and treated Kelce to cinnamon rolls before a game on Oct. 22 at Arrowhead Stadium. While we cannot confirm if those were the exact cinnamon rolls in the video, it’s safe to say that it was a sweet moment between them.
KU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences shared Instagram photos earlier in the day featuring KU’s Baby Jay in a Swift-like “TTPD” pose and Big Jay resembling Swift’s cover image.
KU has been Swift’s home since 2009, when she visited her best friend Abigail Anderson, who was a freshman at KU at the time when she was 19 years old. “I couldn’t help but smile because this feels so classic Taylor to release a personal montage of home clips giving us (scant) insight into the moments of her life beyond the music,” Chapelle wrote.
“The other day I was remarking how her candid appearances of late have felt like a subtle reminder to us all that the life she’s documented in The Tortured Poets Department was indeed from but a ‘fleeting and fatalistic moment in time.’ “No less tragic and vivid and real, but clips like this not only harken back to me of MySpace days with home footage cut into vlogs (from) the road but that also serve as a note that she’s cultivated a beautiful life from the ashes that the Department left her with.”
